HRYHORIY ZORYK (born in 1958) is an Honored Artist of Ukraine and a member of the National Art Union of Ukraine. He has taught at the Tulchyn School of Culture in Vinnytsia region since 2010. In 2015 he was commissioned for a series of portraits of prominent historic political and public figures, hetmans, warriors, scientist and writers of Ukraine. These works are now in a permanent collection and on display at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Zoryk’s possesses an original style based on the aesthetics of classical subject painting, with a focus on plein air painting. While he prefers oils and tempera, he also developed a personal technique of chaotic strokes in mascara and pen, along with gouache and watercolors. Ukrainian history, religion, culture, national traditions, and customs find their interpretation in the artist’s works. His art is housed in numerous Ukrainian museums, Teatro La Scala in Milan, and in private collections in Ukraine, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, China, Canada, Cuba, China, and the United States. He has participated in 40 individual and over 150 collective shows and his works are still gaining in popularity.
